How do young people today relate to the events of the "Mauerfall" and "Wende" ? For more than three years the Art and Media LAB at the FEZ collabourated with artists to work with five Schools in Berlin in many workshops. The work ensured the lasting realisation of artistic display formats of contemporary historical subjects in continuing Workshops and Projects with the young people. On the whole 600 students were part of "JUGEND BOHRT".
JUGEND BOHRT is an examination of a social change by young people, who was only mediated to them and which they know had been tracing themselves. The Exhibition showed Movies, Installations and Photography. Its presentation testified a unique authenticity and diversity in the expression of young people, that is meant to stimulate a discourse.
I was lucky to be part of this project to work with a group of nine young people from the Emmy-Noether School.. In this narrative work I encouraged the young people to listen to their grandparents or parents by finding an object/objects that relates to this historical event in their household and tell its story..
JUGEND BOHRT was exhibited in the "Roten Rathaus", Berlin from 4.11.-9.11.2009 and due to the 20th anniversary of the Mauerfall Michael Gorbatchev saw it as well...
